At an incoming-material bench in Dongguan, a technician presses two black EVA sheets between his fingers. The 0.18 g/cm³ sheet rebounds quickly; the 0.24 g/cm³ option feels firmer and better suited to a calibration meter with sharp metal probes. That small choice explains why EVA tool cases turn up in such different jobs. The same molded shell can carry an electrician's tester, a bicycle torque kit, a camera repair set, or a compact automotive scanner when its density, cavity layout, and closure are matched to the load.
One shell platform, several field roles
Instrument makers often use our EVA tool case line for launch kits that keep a device, charger, leads, and instruction card in fixed positions. A typical shell combines a compression-molded EVA panel with Oxford fabric outside and a velvet or jersey lining inside. For a handheld meter, Shore C 50–60 is a useful starting range: too soft and the case slumps in a crowded van; too hard and it adds weight without improving the fit around the instrument.
Maintenance crews need a different interior. Die-cut foam can assign one cavity to every socket or gauge, making a missing item visible before the team leaves a site. Removable hook-and-loop dividers suit kits whose contents change by contract. For mobile technicians, we also check whether the open lid stays clear of the work area and whether a webbing handle remains balanced when the heaviest component sits 20 mm off center. These are workflow details, not decoration.
Protection targets change with the assignment
A warehouse-based service kit may only need abrasion resistance and a 1.0 m drop check on six faces. A case shipped repeatedly with rental equipment can be evaluated against a transport program based on ISTA 2A or ASTM D4169, with the outer carton included in the test setup. Water resistance also needs a precise brief. A sewn zipper EVA case can resist splashes, but it should not be described as IP65 unless the complete construction has been designed and verified for that rating.
Electrical and electronics service teams sometimes request antistatic lining, conductive foam, or a controlled surface-resistance target. Those features belong in the material specification rather than being assumed from the EVA shell. If a kit enters an IEC 61340-5-1 controlled area, the customer should define the component-level ESD requirement during the case customization process. We can then separate sensitive boards from loose cables and select compatible lining and adhesive systems.
Tool brands also use the case as a selling pack. A molded logo, woven label, screen print, or rubber patch can carry the identity, while a contrasting zipper pull helps users find the opening direction with gloves on. The first sample normally takes about three days for a straightforward structure. At that stage, the actual tools are more useful than a perfect rendering because the foam technician can correct finger notches, cable bend radius, and lid clearance before production tooling is locked.
Dongguan Lianping Luggage Co., Ltd. builds custom programs from 500 units, with common price tiers at 500, 1,000, and 3,000 pieces. Production moves from sheet cutting and compression molding through sewing, lamination, packing, and full inspection across six lines. Buyers can send a tool layout and target use conditions; on the current bench, the firmer black sheet is waiting beside a torque wrench set for tomorrow's fit check.
