A case can pass a waist-height drop and still frustrate its owner every morning. The handle may tilt, the zipper may catch at a corner, or a foam cavity may grip the tool so tightly that technicians pull on the cable to remove it. Protection and convenience meet at these small interfaces. At LIANPING's sample room, loaded carry and access checks sit beside impact checks because an EVA tool case has to work between drops, not only during them.
Protection begins with controlled clearance
The molded shell distributes impact, while the interior prevents the payload from gaining speed inside the case. For many handheld tool kits, EVA sheet density in the 0.18–0.24 g/cm³ range and Shore C hardness around 50–65 provide a practical starting point. Die-cut foam should hold the tool at supported surfaces, leave fragile knobs clear, and maintain roughly 8–15 mm of buffer where corner impact is likely. More foam is not always better if it blocks finger access.
Egg-crate foam in the lid accommodates moderate height variation, whereas a precision-cut top pad prevents tall parts from striking one another. Elastic straps can retain adapters that users remove often. In LIANPING's molded tool case program, the prototype is closed with the actual payload and reopened immediately to check pressure marks, trapped cables, and whether any loose part has crossed into another cavity.
Convenience is designed into the route of use
A two-way zipper lets a user choose the shortest opening path, but large pulls must not snag on nearby equipment. The radius around each molded corner affects slider force; overly tight turns become obvious during a 5,000-cycle zipper evaluation. Handle position is set from the loaded center of gravity, and D-ring tabs receive reinforcement when a shoulder strap is specified. Cases stored vertically may also need an end label and an interior retention panel.
Dimensions deserve the same discipline. An extra 20 mm around every side seems harmless on a drawing, yet it can prevent ten cases from fitting a vehicle shelf or shipping carton. A compact design reduces material and freight volume, provided the zipper seam, foam buffer, and hand clearance remain intact. Buyers can use our custom case development process to compare an exact-fit cavity with a flexible divider layout before choosing tooling.
For protection claims, the test must name the payload and conditions. A common internal check uses drops from 1.0–1.5 m on six faces, three times, followed by zipper and instrument inspection. Repeated parcel shipment may justify ISTA 2A or ASTM D4169 evaluation with the retail case and outer carton together. A sewn EVA case should not be called IP54 or IP65 simply because water beads on the fabric; the complete product needs design and verification for a stated ingress rating.
Orders begin at 500 units, with common tier prices at 500, 1,000, and 3,000 pieces. Straightforward samples normally take about three days. On today's bench, the foam operator has widened two finger notches by 4 mm after a technician tried the sample while wearing nitrile-coated gloves; the tools stayed secure, but access needed one more cut.
